It's the first time I write about the books I read, and curiously 2011 has been the year with less reading-activity since I started reading for pleasure again. But here I go. Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go  I watched the trailer for the film (I must say, this happens to me very often) and I got very interested in it. And I liked the book, though I should say I found it veeeery slow. I want to think that it is necessary for the story, the passing of time mixed with the inevitable fate of the children... it kepps them and you, waiting. The film, by the way, it's awful. It's a good portrait of the story, but it's like a bad summary of the book. Kathryn Stockett's The Help I heard about this book from my University colleagues (this happens to me too) and I started to read it almost immediately. And it totally got me, I couldn't stop. I love the story and the different voices in it. Read it, please. The film is great too.   H. P....

Ayer fui a la Fnac tras muchos meses, y eso que la tengo en mi misma acera. Empiezo a notar lo de no tener trabajo, porque al pasar por delante, ni volvía a casa cansada y de uniforme y no me apetecía, ni volvía del Mercadona cargada de bolsas. En fin, que como ya hace un mes o así que finiquité Sandman , lo cual me dejó un vacío existencial importante, y aunque sigo con Gaiman porque tengo Neverwhere y Fragile Things a mitad, sé que me los terminaré en seguida. Y tras devorar la serie y darle una oportunidad a Los Pilares de la Tierra , no me convenció... fui a por provisiones. Vi unas cuantas cosicas que puede que quiera. A ver qué os parece. Norwegian Wood , de Haruki Murakami. Nunca he leído nada de este señor, pero como os podéis imaginar me llamó el título. Me leí la cotraportada y tiene posibilidades. Paul is Undead , de Alan Goldsher. Seguimos beatelianos (desde hace unos meses lo estoy bastante, por unas razones o por otras), y seguimos con todas estas novelas que están salie...

Ayer fué el día de Kevin Smith: Lo mencionaron en Padre de Familia 7x16 ( Peter's Progress , título que también rings a bell, o debería, para mis colegas de estudios). Lo mencionaron en Privileged 1x03(Cosmopolitan tv). Y acto seguido pusieron Una Chica de Jersey. No es a lo que me tiene acostumbrada, pero el momento de Sweeney Todd estuvo gracioso. En Las Chicas Gilmore, podíamos ver un ejemplar de Slaughterhouse-5 de Kurt Vonnegut rondando por ahí, libro que me persigue y me encanta. Ayer el médico me dijo, tras tener por fin unas radiografias de mi espalda, que tengo el cuello demasiado recto (lo cual, aunque no lo parezca es un problema) y una leve escoliosis (abajo del todo, así a modo de jota, que la tierra tira), y que, palabras textuales "no tiene solución pero se cura con ejercicio. ¿Cómo puede algo no tener solución pero tener cura? Ah bueno sí, algo que no tiene solución pero sí tiene curas, es mi antiguo colegio. ¡Alumnos y ex-alumnos lisiados del mundo! ¡Unámonos...
